Uruan is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. The Local Government has its headquarters located in Idu. It is bound in the East by Odukpani Local, Government Area in Cross River State, in the South by Okobo Local Government Area, in the West by Nsit Atai and Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Areas and in the North by Itu Local Government Area.

Mineral deposits are available in this area, they are: crude oil, Silicon/glass sand, natural gas, sulphur nitrate, limestone and clay deposits. There are also forest resources such as timber and wood, raffia and raffia palm and oil palm. Commercial activities carried out in Uruan LGA include: Fishing, farming, trading, clay moulding, arts and crafts, canoe/boat building.
