About Umu Nneochi, Nigeria

Umunneochi is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Abia state, Nigeria. Umunneochi is officially known as Nneochi. The Local Government Area is made up of three major subdivisions, namely: Umuchieze, Nneato and Isuochi. It has its capital/headquarters in the colonial administartive town of Nkwoagu (located in Isuochi). Umunneochi consists of towns and villages, but the major towns located here include: are Amuda, Ngodo, Lokpaukwu, Leru, Lomara Lokpanta, Lekwesi and Mbala.

The indigenous and predominant tribe in this area is the Igbo tribe. The major occupation of the Umunneochi people include agriculture, trading and mining of granite, quorite and laterite. The main agricultural food crops are cassava, yam, black beans and cocoyam. The Cash crops are palm nuts and cashew nuts. These also constitute foundation of industrial activities in the area. In addition, there schools, churches, clay and pottery activities.
