FarmKonnect Institute for Data and Agribusiness Studies is an offshoot of FarmKonnect Nigeria Plc. The institute was established to bridge frictions in Africa's food and agribusiness sector and increase value to stakeholders through quality research and training as well as providing reliable and relatable insights that will help farmers and stakeholders in the industry to make informed decisions and overcome their challenges. In the second Quarter of the year 2020, the FarmKonnect R&D team reported that for Africa to meet its food demand for the next 10 years there is a need to invest more in the capacity building of farmers while continuing to positively change the digital-data narratives of the continent's agricultural system. The R&D team later metamorphosed to fidas, adding training to its core activities, to increase the digital data learning of farmers and position them to have a competitive edge in the big data ecosystem of agriculture. Therefore, fidas exists to help farmers and other stakeholders in the industry including Government to capture inherent values in data and insights toward tailored value delivery in the demand and supply sides of the agricultural value chain, and also raise more business-oriented professional farmers through classroom and field exposure to modern agribusiness practices. Our mission is to enable the ability and capability of using data and insights in the demand and the supply sides of the agricultural value chain toward sustainable food security in Africa. Our vision is to enhance the use of smart processes, people, and technology for data and insight generation that help stakeholders make informed decisions toward responsible production and achieving food security in Africa by 2030 and beyond. The general objective of the company is to produce and inspire a generation of smart farmers who are data conscious and can make data-driven decisions in their respective endeavors in the agricultural value chain.
