Bellow is the written specification for the tank farm in Calabar.

The Project, Location and
Land Area:
The Tank farm is located at Ikot Ansa and occupies a land area of
1.3hectres. This facility is designed for the reception, storage and
evacuation of white petroleum products - by means of Fuel tankers
and trucks. The facility is in close proximity with ECM Terminals
where Cargo Vessels berth to unload into the Tanks via three 8"
Cargolines running from the Jetty to the facility. The area has other
facilities bordering it, all of which share the main road leading to the
facilities. The city of Calabar is the Capital of Cross River State in
the South East of Nigeria.

2 Product Tanks:
There are three (3nos) Tanks with a combined Capacity of
50.7million litres and has individual capacities as listed: Tank-
1(16,919,563ltrs), Tank-2(16,917,339ltrs), Tank-
3(16,888,330ltrs). Tank-1 and Tank-2 are PMS tanks while Tank-
3 is an AGO tank.

3 Hydrant Water Tank: This Tank has a Capacity of about 4million litres
4 Slop Tank This Tank has a Capacity of about 150,000 litres.

5 Loading Islands: The facility has four truck loading islands.

6 Loading Arms: The facility has 8nos loading arms for fast and efficient
evacuation
of the products stored in the tanks.

7 Product Pumps:
There are 8nos electric motor pumps (45kw, 166m³/h, 1500rpm)
with three pumps each for the 2nos PMS tanks and two pumps
dedicated to the AGO tank. The pump house also has a 75kw pump
for backloading of product to the Jetty if the need arises. The pumps
are controlled by a central panel in the Control Panel.

8 Fire Hydrant Pumps:
The facility has two fire pumps of capacities 1500GPM
(409.12m³/h) and 2500GPM (681.91m³/h) repectively.

9 Gun Monitors:
There are three 660LPM fixed gun monitors situated strategically
to fight fire across the entire facility as well as a mobile gun
monitor.

10 Jockey Pumps: The facility has a Jockey pump used in maintaining
pressure in the
fire hydrant line.

11 Hydrant System:
The facility is equipped with a 6" ring line around the perimeter
fitted with 11nos 2-way pedestal type hydrant pillars with a double
hose cabinet situated by each pillar. The petroleum product storage
tanks have a 2" ring line with sprinklers at the upper rim of each
tank and at the top center of the tanks for efficient fire fighting and
cooling of the tanks. Each tank is also fitted with a foam pourer for
the introduction of foam directly into the tanks. The Gantry and the
pump house has an array of sprinklers for both hydrant water and
foam. The foam tank has a capacity of 1200gallons and is interlinked
with the entire hydrant system.

12 Administrative Building:
The ground floor is made up of six offices, one Laboratory and three
toilets while the first floor has five offices, one conference room and
four toilets.

13 Gate Houses: There are two gate houses.

14 Other Buildings:
The facility has other technical buildings including a Product Pump
Shed, Maintenance builing, Power House and Fire Pump House.

15 Power Systems:
The facility has two options of power supply. There is a dedicated
transformer of 500KVA installed to supply power from the National
Grid and two new CAT Generators as alternative sources of power.
They have capacities of 455KVA and 300KVA respectively.

16 Separator Pit:
The facility has two separator pits for storage of sludge and or
spilled product. It is equipped with a sludge pump for the transfer of
product from the pit to the slop tank.

17 Underground Water Pump:
There is a 7.5HP pump that delivers water to the Hydrant tank as
well as to the Administrative building overhead tank for office use.

18 Floating roof and other components:
The tanks are equipped with floating roof in order to checkmate
evaporation. The tank roof tops are fitted with spark Arrestors and
Breather valves.
