Asa is a Local Government Area (LGA) in kwara state, Nigeria. It has its headquarters in the town of Afon. The Federal Military government created Asa, alongside other Local Government areas on August 24th 1976, during the military regime of (Rt.) Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo. Asa shares boundaries with Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Offa, Oyun, Ifelodun and Moro L.G.As of Kwara State and Oyo State respectively. The LGA comprises of 3 districts, which are further divided to 17 political wards for administrative convenience.
