About Ogun Waterside, Nigeria

Ogun Waterside is a Local Government Area in Ogun State, Nigeria. It is the only area of the state with a coastline on the Bight of Benin and also borders Lagos Lagoon. Its headquarters is in Abigi town. The whole area now referred to as Ogun Waterside was then under the control of a resident District Office(D.O) at Ijebu Ode. Administration was brought closer to the people in the early 50s and led to the management of the council managers and Government nominees as Chairman. 

The people of the Local Government Area are Yorubas of Ijebu, Ikale and Ilaje who observe the same customs, uphold the same values and beliefs and respect similar traditions as other Yorubas; Marriage, child-naming and funeral ceremonies are similarly performed. It is bounded in the west by Ijebu East Local Government, in the north and the east by Ondo State and in the south, by Lagos State and Atlantic Ocean.
