About Mayo-Belwa, Nigeria

Adamawa is a state located in the northern part of Nigeria with it's capital city as Yola. The state was created on 27th August, 1991, by the then Federal Military Government under General lbrahim Babangida, out of the former Gongola State with four administrative divisions: Adamawa, Ganye, Mubi and Numan. Adamawa is one of the largest states in Nigeria and occupies about 36,917 square kilometres. Adamawa shares it's boundaries with the following: Borno to the northwest, Gombe to the west and Taraba to the southwest. Its eastern border forms the national eastern border with Cameroon. The name Adamawa was derived from Madibbo Adama, a Fulani leader who led the 19th Century Jihad in Upper Benue Region.
