Amid the prospects of completing existing structures in some housing estates, Ogun authorities have urged residents to explore opportunities provided by state’s mortgage firm towards becoming home owners.

The State Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Daniel Adejobi, who gave this advice during an interacting session with the media in Abeokuta, said that the monthly contribution, for about six months in the Home Ownership Account with the Gateway Savings and Loans Limited would enable them access loans from banks and Mortgage Institutions to purchase their houses.

He said as part of government commitment to make houses affordable to all, the present administration had released funds to open up more housing estates at Ogijo, Ota, Owode, Abeokuta and other part of the state.

Adejobi also disclosed that with the perfection of the deed of assignment of workers at Laderin Estate the government can now obtain of loan of about N300 million from the National Housing Fund (NHF) to complete construction on the foundations of over 100 units of houses already laid by the previous administration.

The commissioner maintained that his ministry would continue to improve upon existing Structures, and had already completed the renovation of Commissioners’ and Legislative Quarters, which had been built for over 34 years.

Adejobi said his ministry had involved in the supervision of all renovations and new structures being put in place by other ministries such as Education and Health, to ensure quality and perfection.

He assured that workers in the state would benefit immensely from the housing units as they are contributors to the National Housing Scheme, noting that the fund contributed was a revolving capital meant for the provision of housing units for workers.
