Set to expand its reach and operational capacity, the Nigerian Corporation of Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has said that it would work towards delivering ₦160m new headquarters’ office complex in Lagos this year.

The building, christened Insurance Brokers House, is located on a plot of land in the Yaba area estimated to cost approximately ₦160 million, and would be financed through subscription of members and generous donations from well-meaning individuals and corporate bodies.

Construction work is being led by Intarch Consultants Limited and will serve as office complex for Secretariat Staff, Business Centre, auditorium for the Council’s activities and other ancillary purposes.

The building, an ultra modern complex according to the council officials, is expected to be a structural masterpiece that will further transform the outlook of the Yaba Business District, Lagos. NCRIB is one of the earliest professional bodies in Nigeria, founded in 1962.

NCRIB building complex located at 8, Moleye Street, Alagomeji-Yaba Lagos, is also expected to serve as good revenue spinner for the council, as the building complex constitutes one of the main pursuits of the Council for the year.

According to President of the Council, Barrister Laide Osijo, completion of the project, which has been earmarked for August 2012, is one of the cardinal focus of her tenure, as work is at the plastering stage with window frames being fixed at the moment.

“The Area Committees are to be given a code of conduct for their operation and granted powers as the first level of contact between members and the National Secretariat. The fortification of the Committees and chapters would in turn enhance the image of the Council at the grass roots,” she asserted.

She also disclosed plans to establish an Inspectorate Department, upgrade information technology infrastructure and ensure the success of the 50th Anniversary of the Council.

Osijo, who is the first female president of the NCRIB, said all hands must be on deck to ensure that the project is completed as one of the high points of the 50th Anniversary of the Council, coming up later in the year.

“In order to back words with action, the Governing Board, which is the highest decision making body of the Council has restructured the Building Committee of the Council with a view to completing the edifice in record time.”
