The Jigawa State government has awarded contract for an urban renewal programme to Messrs Dantata and Sawoe worth ₦3.8 billion.

The project has 12 months completion and would incorporate the construction of a modern layout adjacent to the Government House, Dutse, designed as a site and services scheme.

The Jigawa State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim Gumel, who briefed newsmen after the state executive council meeting last week, confirmed that the contract that was awarded to Messrs Dantata and Sawoe.

He explained that the layout would be bequeathed with all modern infrastructures such as electricity, drainage system, street lighting, water reticulation, pavements and surfacing for all the plots in the layout.

According to him, “the design is a new innovation in the state capital whereby every infrastructure would be provided before allocations are made to the general public for the purpose of constructing houses,” noting that state Executive Council also gave approval for a water bill that will bring all the water agencies under one umbrella to be forwarded to the House of Assembly for passage in to law.

Gumel indicated that the council also ratified the upward review of available capital for the Jigawa Agricultural Supply Company at ₦55 million to intensify its activities of providing agricultural impute for the farmers.

He said the council approved the release of ₦53, 451, 347 for Jigawa State College of Agriculture to undertake various project under the 2011 for the construction of classrooms, procurement of equipments for the laboratory and other sundry activities.
