Ibiono Ibom is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in Oko Ita. It is bounded by Cross River State, Itu, Ikono, Arochukwu (Abia State), Abak and Ini Local Government Areas. The main ethnic group of the LGA are the Ibibio people, who speak a dialect of the Ibibio language. The Ibibio language belongs to the Benue-Congo language family, which forms part of the Nigera-Congo group of languages.
The region of the local government was created out of Itu Local government Area in December 1996. Mineral resources include deposits of various stones, clay, sand and crude oil. There are forest resources such as palm trees, rubber, timber and others. The people are predominantly farmers, traders and craftsmen. Their cultural heritage include Akata, Ebre, Ekpe, Ukwa, Obon, etc.
