About Ekiti East, Nigeria

Ekiti East is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Ekiti state, Nigeria. Ekiti East LGA was created under the Local Government Edict of 1979. This Local Government has its capital/headquarters in Omuo Ekiti town. The people of Ekiti East Local Government are mainly Ekiti's of the Yoruba race. They inter-relate with one another under a congenial atmosphere. They are homogenous in almost every facet of life. Including language, politics, culture, marriage, social and religious.

The people speak the same Ekiti dialect of the Yoruba language. There are however few variations in the dialect noticeable only in Omuooke, Ahan/Ayegunle. The people of the Local government are predominantly Christians, while some are Muslim. There are some idol worshipers as well. Each of the religion operates without any interference. Some of the notable denominations are: Christ Apostolic Church, The Apostolic Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Anglican Church, Communion of Nigeria, Celestial Church, Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Methodist Church, the Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Catholic Church, Wesley Church etc.
