About Onna, Nigeria
Onna is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. The Local Government Area is bound by Eastern Obolo, Etinan, Mkpat Einin and Eket Local Government Areas. The name Onna was derived from the names of the three predominant clans that live in the area: Oniong, Nnung Ndem and Awa. The people of Onna descend from the Ibibio tribe and they speak Ibibio language.
Because of its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, the people of Onna are predominantly fishermen. The people are also into farming. They also engage in downstream exploration. There is availability of oil deposits, clay, salt, sand and gravel; Good forest reserve and aqua culture. Tourist resort is privately driven, e.g. hotels, gardens and parks.
