About Gboko, Nigeria
Gboko is a Local Government Area (LGA) located in Benue state, Nigeria. Gboko is one of the largest and populous local government in Benue State. It is bounded by Tarka Local Government in the North, Ushongo Local Government in the South, Buruku Local Government on the East, Gwer in the West and Konshisha Local Government on the South West. It lies in the Savannah region of Nigeria with typical Savannah vegetation and climate.
There are also large quantities of granite stones at the Mkar and Ikyuen Hills. Alluvia clay abounds in the area particularly at Ikpa, Mbatierev. This is used for the production of earthenware and other ceramics. Barite has just been discovered to exist in commercial quantities in Yandev and is being utilized. Gboko town has modern facilities. It has a good network of trunk "A" and feeder roads that traverse the whole local government area.
